Therapy Services

Therapy Services
At Missouri Empowerment Project, we believe that healing happens through connection, compassion, and evidence-based care. Our therapy services are designed to meet individuals and families where they are—offering hope, understanding, and practical tools for change.
Our Approach
We provide trauma-informed, strength-based therapy that supports recovery, family stability, and emotional well-being. Each session is guided by licensed and credentialed professionals who understand the complexities of life’s challenges, including substance use, family conflict, grief, and trauma.
Our therapists work collaboratively with clients to build resilience, restore relationships, and promote lasting positive change.
Therapy Services We Offer
  1. Individual Therapy: Personalized one-on-one sessions focused on understanding your story, identifying goals, and building coping skills. We work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions.
  2. Family Therapy: Family therapy helps improve communication, strengthen relationships, and address conflict in a safe and supportive space. Our therapists guide families through challenges related to parenting, reunification, and behavioral concerns.
  3. Couples Therapy: Healthy relationships take effort and understanding. Our therapists support couples in improving communication, rebuilding trust, and navigating conflict with compassion and respect.
  4. Group Therapy: We offer evidence-based and peer-supported group sessions that promote healing through shared experience. Topics include recovery support, parenting, emotional regulation, and relationship skills.
  5. Youth & Adolescent Therapy: Young people face unique challenges. Our therapists create a safe environment for children and teens to explore feelings, learn coping strategies, and build confidence while involving caregivers in the healing process.

Psychosocial Assessments (PSA)

The Psychosocial Assessment (PSA) service at the Missouri Empowerment Project was created in collaboration with the Missouri Children’s Division as an alternative to a full psychological evaluation for families involved in the child welfare system. This service was designed to provide a timely, trauma-informed, and holistic understanding of a parent or caregiver’s current functioning, strengths, and areas of need—without the long wait times or high costs often associated with formal psychological testing.
Each PSA is conducted by a trained clinician using structured clinical interviewing, behavioral observation, and validated screening tools to evaluate key domains of functioning, including:
  • Mental and Emotional Health: Current symptoms, stressors, and coping mechanisms
  • Substance Use and Recovery Needs
  • Parenting Skills and Family Dynamics
  • Trauma and Life History
  • Social Supports and Environmental Stability
  • Motivation and Readiness for Change
Following completion, every assessment is reviewed and clinically approved by a licensed psychologist, ensuring accuracy, quality, and professional oversight.
The PSA process helps case managers, treatment teams, and courts make informed decisions by providing:
  • A comprehensive view of family strengths and barriers
  • Tailored recommendations for mental health or substance use treatment
  • Parenting and reunification goals aligned with the family’s needs
  • Referrals to supportive community services
Our goal is to promote healing, accountability, and family preservation through respectful, person-centered assessment. The PSA empowers parents to participate in their own progress while helping systems better understand how to support long-term stability and reunification.

Substance Use Recovery Services

Our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program provides compassionate, evidence-based treatment designed to support long-term recovery and overall wellness. We recognize that every person’s journey is unique, and our clinicians work closely with each individual to create a plan that meets their specific needs, goals, and circumstances.
We offer outpatient counseling programs lasting 12, 14, or 16 weeks, utilizing the Matrix Intensive Outpatient (IOP) curriculum. The Matrix Model is a structured, multi-component behavioral treatment approach that integrates evidence-based interventions proven to support recovery.
This model includes:
  • Relapse Prevention and Recovery Skills Training
  • Family Therapy and Support to strengthen relationships and rebuild trust
  • Group Therapy focused on peer connection, accountability, and shared growth
  • Individual Counseling for personalized guidance and reflection
  • Psychoeducation to increase understanding of addiction, triggers, and healthy coping
  • Self-Help and Community Support Linkage to promote ongoing stability beyond treatment
Before beginning services, clients complete a comprehensive clinical assessment (if not already completed) to determine their individual treatment needs. The clinician then uses this information—along with diagnostic tools and client input—to recommend the most appropriate program length and intensity.
Throughout the program, participants work on building insight, developing coping strategies, and restoring balance in all areas of life. Our therapists emphasize whole-person recovery, helping clients strengthen not just sobriety, but emotional health, family relationships, and community connection.
This services may be conducted by a Missouri Credentialing Board certified substance abuse counselor that is overseen by a fully licensed clinician.
The self pay rate for assessment is $200 and weekly sessions are $45/hr.
