*currently accepting referrals from MACF contract only Behavioral Intervention (BI) Services Missouri Empowerment Project’s Behavioral Intervention (BI) Program provides individualized, skill-based support to children and youth experiencing behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges that interfere with functioning at home, school, or in the community. Services are designed to help children develop practical skills, strengthen emotional and behavioral regulation, improve daily functioning, and increase stability within their family and community environments.
BI services are individualized based on the child’s identified needs and may focus on areas such as emotional regulation, coping skills, communication, social skills, following routines and expectations, problem-solving, managing challenging behaviors, and increasing age-appropriate independence. Interventions are provided for 3-5 hours weekly in a structured, strengths-based manner and may occur in the home or community, allowing skills to be practiced in the environments where children need them most.
Specialized Staff Training & Oversight MEP Behavioral Intervention staff receive specialized training developed and provided by Dr. Stephanie Campbell, Psychologist. Training prepares staff to understand the function of behavior, recognize factors that may contribute to behavioral challenges, implement individualized behavioral strategies, reinforce positive behaviors and skill development, respond appropriately to challenging behaviors, and accurately document interventions and client progress. Staff are trained to provide services within the scope of the BI program and their individual qualifications. BI services are intended to complement, rather than replace, psychotherapy, psychological assessment, or other clinical treatment when those services are needed.
Who We Serve The BI Program is designed primarily for children and adolescents who need additional hands-on behavioral support beyond traditional office-based services. This may include youth experiencing significant behavioral concerns, difficulty with emotional regulation, challenges with routines or expectations, impaired social or communication skills, or behaviors that affect their ability to function successfully at home, school, or in the community. The program may be particularly beneficial for children involved with the child welfare system, children at risk of placement disruption or family instability, and families who need practical support implementing behavioral strategies consistently in the home. Services are individualized to the needs of each child and family, with an emphasis on building skills, strengthening caregiver capacity, and helping children remain safely and successfully in their home and community whenever possible.
